8 days till Christmas!!!

8 more days people! 8 more days! and then its PARTY..............!

before i go into the party part. Here's what i like to share from my workplace today. I think you all know that i work as a Application Support Engineer and i support an application called WWCISYS. What WWCISYS stand for?

it is = WORLD WIDE CUSTOMER INFORMATION SYSTEM.

To put it short. it is like a database where all customer's info are put into the system and then from our system, it goes down to the other system and stuff... so in direct language, we are pretty much the little big bosses of the data.. sort off.. :)

Here's where things got a little interesting? Weird? Stupid ? Funny? You'll be the judge of it.

I received a case today from one of the Downstream applications meaning people who used our data and they need us to send the data over to them. they want us to send some data or records over to them.. I followed the standard operating procedure. I checked the data. I did my investigations. I discover that the data is infact non-existant from our end. MEANING? it doesn't appear and its not on our system..... so i type the following mail to the user

copied initial mail:

Hi XXXXX,

Good day to you. This mail is to acknowledge your call ID xxxxxxx. Kindly be informed that I have already checked and the following data are not created in WWCISYS:

*data censored for security purposes*

Furthermore, WWCISYS has already been migrated from our end to another application. Attached is the notification for your reference. Therefore I believe that the ID's could be created on the xxx application instead. With that explained, I will proceed to void this call from my end since no further action can be taken. Thank you and have a nice day.

Thats what i wrote.. everything was crystal clear. it says that the data is not from our end. He has to get it from another place.... i close the call and i thought thats the end of it...........

BUT

1 1/2 HOURS LATER............................ i received the following:

Copied from the direct mail

Hi Kelvin,

Thanks a lot for the support and these data's have flown after they have been send from your end. Pls close the call at your end. Thank you very much.


WAIT. A. MINUTE.

somethings not right... he said "after they have been send from your end"

HUH???????????

QUESTION: HOW CAN I SEND DATA FROM OUR END AKA OUR APPLICATION WHEN ITS NOT EVEN CREATED ON OUR END???????

i tell you.. even my boss at Italy and the US was laughing their arse off....... people...........
